Good Quality Portrait of a Georgian Gentleman, 18th Century
Antique Original Oil on Panel Painting
A wonderfully charming and warm portrait painted very much in the style of Joshua Reynolds and in quite an accomplished manner.
The sitter has plump, almost swollen features and bulging eyes revealing quite a friendly face. He has curled hair, is wearing a scarf and dark his suit of clothes almost blends in with the background apart from a suggestion of deep burgundy for the back of his chair.
c. 1760-1780 in date.
In it’s original and beautifully made giltwood and gesso frame.
The painting itself is in good vintage condition with only minor wear and tear, there are a couple of naturally occurring cracks to the board but these don’t detract from the overall look of the piece. The frame has some wear and tear mainly around the edges but you don’t notice too much and the backing has previously been removed.
Overall measurments: 49cm x 42.5cm x 4.5cm.
