Original Vintage Oil on Canvas Painting, 1970s

Inscribed verso ‘B.N. 71, Les’. I am deducing that B.R. is probably the artist, 71 the year and Les is the sitter.

If I am right Les has quite the look to him, slightly reminiscent of Mark E. Smith from the Fall. I would say he’s definitely a character, a proud man with head held high and an open-collared 1970s shirt.

Painted in oil on a deep handmade canvas the mysterious B.N. has really captured the sitter well. Using confident free moving brushstrokes and a sophisticated colour palette.

The painting is in good vintage order with minor wear and tear consummate with age.

Measuring: 67.5cm x 50cm x 6cm.
