Antique Original Oil on Canvas Painting by Lucien Peri (1880-1948)

Peri was a well known French landscape painter in the first half of the 20th century. He is most famous for painting for some of the most iconic French travel posters of the time, including Corsica, Cannes, Royen and Evian Les Bains.

You can definitely see that iconic impressionist style of painting in this example of his work using broad and confident brushstrokes to depict a gnarly tree in front of a lake with mountains behind.

In the original and stunning hand-worked gilt frame with free-flowing floral details. I would normally remove glass from oil paintings but I have left this one glazed as am thinking that the frame may have been also made by the artist and it is intentionally glazed, however, this can be removed easily to suit taste.

The painting itself is in very good condition and the frame does have some minor wear and tear but nothing serious enough to detract from its splendour.
