Antique Chinese Rustic Elm Tea Cabinet, Early 20th Century
Antique Chinese Rustic Elm Tea Cabinet, Early 20th Century
Antique Cabinet
A handsome Provincial Chinese side cabinet which would have originally been used to hold tea-related items and to use the top to serve tea to guests.
Made from solid elm which has then naturally worn from use over time.
Two drawers with decorative brass pull handles above a two-door cupboard section with a removable shelf.
Very much in the Ningbo style, from Ningbo in Zhejiang province.
Probably dates from the early 20th century period, circa 1900 in date.
It is in good solid and sturdy condition and is very usable. There is wear throughout which adds to its charm and tells its story. There is a small amount of old, dead woodworm present which we have treated for good measure with a non-toxic boric acid-based woodworm killer.
Approximate measurements 87cm high x 63cm wide x 45cm deep.
