Simulated Rosewood Regency Dining Chairs, c. 1820s
Simulated Rosewood Regency Dining Chairs, c. 1820s
Set of Four Antique Dining Chairs, 19th Century
Scrolling carved backs with central brass roundel details.
At this point it time rosewood was new on the scene and very expensive so they used to paint the finish onto more traditional native woods.
Turned front legs with sabre rear legs.
Removable seat pads upholstered in old, possibly original hessian.
They are solid, sturdy and still very usable. The finish is dry and worn and to be honest, that is part of the reason I fell for them. I love the aesthetic just as it is, however, they could be oiled or waxed to reveal the richness of the original finish underneath and the seat pads could be reupholstered easily. It all comes down to personal preference and situation they are going into.
Measuring 85cm high x 46cm wide x 54cm deep. The seat height at the front centre is around 47cm.
