A Set of Framed Antique 19th Century Portrait Photographs
Depicting seven actors from the first British stage adaptation of the George du Maurier Novel ‘Trilby’.
Featuring in the title role Dorothea Baird as ‘Trilby O’Ferrall’ and the great Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree as ‘Svengali’.
The play was shown at the Haymarket Theatre in London in 1895 and toured around the UK to huge success.

Dating from 1895 these seven photogravure portraits of the cast are by J.S. Virtue & Co Ltd, after Thomas Charles Turner.
Each one is titled with the character and actor’s name.
In an original antique and unique parcel gilt and wooden frame which compliments the photographs well.
The photographs are in good vintage condition, there is some light foxing and small marks but no serious issues. The frame is also in good vintage order with no serious problems and only light wear commensurate with age.
Overall measurements 143cm x 30cm x 2cm. Each print is roughly 25cm x 17cm.
