Large Antique Cast Iron Cauldron Pot, Vintage Garden Planter, Late 19th/Early 20th Century
Large Planter
Originally coming from a large country house in West Wales it would have been used for either laundry or as a large cauldron in the kitchens.
Dating from the late 19th Century to the early 20th Century period, circa 1900.
The last owner repurposed this as a planter in their garden, to great effect.
Made from cast iron it is heavy and sturdy with a wonderful patina naturally built up as it has slowly oxidised.
Of simple form with tapered sides to a wide brim with a lip incorporating the original waste hole. It has a rounded base which incorporates the original tap hole which now works well for drainage.
It is in good vintage condition, there is no damage as such. It is full of cosmetic imperfections, wear which adds to its aesthetic.
Measuring 73cm in diameter x 58cm high.
