Antique Swedish Chair
A decorative and characterful chair with simple lines, a solid arched back, a solid seat and a box stretcher.
Peg joined construction made of pine with layers of original paint worn down naturally over time with muted red, blue and traces of white. The stretchers are also worn down naturally with the front one being the most so.
Originating from Sweden, an inscription verso carved in relief reads ‘1781 AD’ in script. Dating the piece to the late 18th Century during the reign of Gustav III.
It is in very good vintage condition with only minor wear commensurate with age. The chair is still perfectly usable and the joints all seem sound, there are cosmetic imperfections throughout which add to its charm and tell its story but no serious issues.
Measuring 74cm high x 40cm wide x 40cm deep. The seat height is 43cm.
