£0.00

Original Watercolour Bird Painting by Ralston R. B. Gudgeon R.S.W. Scottish (1910-1984)

A masterful depiction of a blackbird feeding his young on a branch. The artist has really captured the character of the birds with great skill whilst also producing a highly decorative work using colours and brushstrokes expertly.

Born in Ayr and studying at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1920s/30s Gudgeon showed an early talent winning the Torrence Memorial Award at the Royal Glasgow Institute. After serving in different elite regiments in WWII he then settled in Renfrewshire where he worked until his death. He is well known for his depictions of wildlife and in particular birds and for taking inspiration from Japanese art. His works feature in many public and private collections worldwide.

This example dates from the mid-20th Century period.
