A strong and confident young woman depicted with ringlets in her hair dressed in a black gown with lacy undergarments a cameo brooch and a jet bracelet.

Painted in a somewhat soft manner in the provincial style.

Coming from a country house in North Devon in the West Country of England.

Dating from the mid-19th century period, circa 1860s

In its original simple gilt frame.

The painting itself is in good original untouched vintage condition. There are no serious issues, holes, tears etc. and has wear present throughout commensurate with age. The frame is also in good vintage order, it is largely intact with some minor losses.

Approximate overall measurements 70cm high x 60cm wide x 4cm deep.
