Vintage Wool Pile Carpet
A bold and colourful modernist design originally designed in 1930 by Edward McKnight Kauffer (1890-1954) a leading graphic artist of the time and designed a series of rugs, there is one example of this original design in the collections of the Met. in New York and one at the V&A in London.
Signed EMCKK to the lower right.
This example was produced in a limited run to coincide with the V&A’s 2008 exhibition ‘Modernism: Designing a New World’ in collaboration with Habitat.
It is in good vintage order. There are some signs of wear from use but nothing overly serious.
Measuring 180cm x 122cm.
