Antique Art Nouveau Planter With Fish Decoration
Three panels of handcrafted brass metalwork with stylised fish in an underwater scene with aqua cabochon roundels to symbolise the water and enamelled blue-green eyes of the fish.
Signed to the lower right of the main panel ‘J.V.’
Sitting within a floor-standing bamboo frame.
Originating from France but in the Japanese taste.
Removable tin inserts to hold plants.
It is in good condition with some minor wear commensurate with age. The brass panels are all in good order, all aqua roundels are present as are the enamelled fish eyes part from one on the left-hand side panel. The bamboo is all structurally sound, there are some splits and small missing parts etc. but nothing serious and it is fully functional.
Measuring 87cm wide x 33cm deep x 91cm high.
