Handwoven Silk Tapestry Seascape Panels, 1960s
Handwoven Silk Tapestry Seascape Panels, 1960s
Mid Century Woven Textile Art Wall Hangings
Sold as a set of three.
Lovingly hade made in the mid-1960s.
Each panel depicts a stylised landscape.
The longer two are similar, depicting a beach scene with sea and clouds in big skies with swirling clouds. The shorter of the three is slightly more abstract but I think this might be a closer up study of waves in the sea as the same colours are used in the other two to depict the sea.
Spiders webs throughout history have been used as a metaphor for the complex lives that we lead, some people have used it as a symbol for the decisions we make and others for fate or destiny. Either way, I think this work represents two lives coming together.
It has been skillfully executed by the artist and is beautifully made.
It is in good vintage condition with only minor wear and tear. Most of the colours are still vivid however there is some discolouration. This is mainly noticeable on the edging strips.
The top one measures 178cm wide x 28cm high.
The middle one measures 247cm wide x 29cm high.
The bottom one measures 255cm wide x 29cm high.
