Original Vintage Oil on Board Painting by Claude Benard (1926-2016)

I was always told you can tell a good painter by the way they capture hands and with a study of a hand, there is nowhere to hide. I personally think Benard has done a great job with this hand planted on top of a book.

An accomplished French artist, Benard studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and exhibited in the Salon des Artistes Francais, Salon des Independants and the Salon d'Automne, Paris. His style evolved from figurative through to Surrealism into the 1970's.

I would date this piece to the 1960s period.

Initialled lower-right.

Looks good either lent up against a wall on a shelf or could be framed depending on taste.

The painting is in very good vintage condition with only very minor wear and tear.

Measuring 25cm x 25cm.
