Set of Six Cornish Naive Folk Art Portraits of Village Members, Early 20th Century
Set of Six Cornish Naive Folk Art Portraits of Village Members, Early 20th Century
Antique Original Oil on Board Paintings
An extremely charming set of portraits, all by the same hand, probably a member of the same village as the artist who has managed to capture so much of their individual characters.
Unusually for portraits of working-class people of this time, a couple are affectionately named. In one case, the young lad cleaning boots is named ‘Bobby’ and one of the women is rather wonderfully titled ‘Old Crusty’.
They are all signed ‘W. Heggs’ and all dated between 1906-1909.
Framed in later, complimentary gilt wooden frames.
They are in good vintage condition with only minor wear.
Overall dimensions for each one: 25cm x 19cm.
Delivery is £30 to Mainland UK. If you live elsewhere please get in touch for an accurate quote. The shipping will automatically be added at check out unless you select collection.
