Antique Original Oil on Canvas Painting Depicting a Male Sitter

An earnest, rosy-cheeked young priest with a good beard and piecing eyes dressed in his religious get-up.

Unsigned but exquisitely and sensitively painted capturing the sitter’s character well.

I would date this to c. 1880-1890.

In its original gilt gesso frame.

The painting itself is in very good vintage condition. It is still bright and clean, there doesn’t appear to be any significant damage or repairs. There is some minor wear and tear as you would expect including some craquelure but nothing serious enough to point out.
