Original Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting

Signed ‘J. Rocheloux’ and dated ‘1951’

Picked up at a flea market in Provence in Southern France.

Exquisitely painted, picking up a lot of emotion on the face as well as the motion of the man who is clearly on the move.

At first, I thought he may have originated in the Himalayas, but since getting back to HQ we are thinking he may be Eastern European, Middle Eastern or possibly from Central Asia. If you recognize that hat or the textiles please let us know.

The painted area seems to be free from damage but there is some wear and tear that can be seen in the photographs. this is forgiven and we think it adds to its overall charm.

Measuring: 41cm high x 33cm wide x 2cm deep.
