Antique French Commode With Marble Top

Simple stylish lines with a demi-lune shaped body on straight legs.

High-quality marquetry inlay using specimen woods including kingwood and pearwood depicting floral sprays, musical instruments and swags.

Three central sans travers drawers flanked by cabinet doors on either side with hinged drawers above.

High-quality shaped richly veined marble top with soft colours including shades of red, yellow, ocher, white and brown.

Dating to the late 18th-early 19th Century.

It is in good vintage condition, it is solid, sturdy and very usable. There is some cosmetic wear commensurate with age. There is some fading to the wood in places and some old repairs to the veneers but overall it is an extremely charming cabinet.

The original key is present, the drawers all lock but the cabinet doors don’t seem to anymore.
