Lacquered Chinoiserie Cube Cabinet
Lacquered Chinoiserie Cube Cabinet
Vintage Hand Painted Cupboard
Made from solid elm and almost certainly Chinese in origin.
Dating from somewhere in the first half of the 20th Century.
Beautifully decorated on two sides with flowers, fruit and bamboo on a black background and on one side with more stylised central decoration on red background surrounded by lotus flowers.
The top has a wonderful red lacquer and the remaining side is stained wood.
One of the black sides has three drawers and the other has two drawers and a cupboard.
It would make the most wonderful kitchen island, central table or just a fantastically unique cabinet.
It is solid and sturdy and the drawers run as they should. As you can see there is some wear and tear which we think adds to its charm. At some point in its life one side of one of the four hinges for the doors has been lost and replaced. You wouldn’t notice this really without close inspection.
Measuring: 94cm x 94cm x 88cm high.
Please note because of its dimensions it was quite hard to get it through our door, there is a little wiggle room due to there being feet, its 80cm high excluding the feet. It would definitely be worth measuring up doorways and entrances depending on where you want to put it.
