French Louis XIV Provincial Chestnut Cupboard, 17th Century
French Louis XIV Provincial Chestnut Cupboard, 17th Century
Large Antique Panelled Country House Housekeepers Cabinet
A country made piece, made of chestnut in a rustic, slightly irregular manner with simple panelled doors and sides which create an elegant silhouette that would fit in either a traditional or modern interior.
c.1650-1680 in date.
Of tall yet fairly narrow proportions.
Dark brown, almost treacle glazed stain.
Upper and lower doors open separately to reveal two cupboard spaces with removable shelves.
Despite its age, it is still in a very usable condition. It’s a very solid, heavy old piece of furniture. There is some cosmetic wear and tear and a couple of repairs here and there but these tell its story and make it what it is.
Measuring 212cm high x 132cm wide x 44cm deep.
