Oak Chairs With Pink Velvet and Antique Tapestry Upholstery
Oak Chairs With Pink Velvet and Antique Tapestry Upholstery
Pair of Antique Fench Armchairs, 19th Century
A very unusual and attractive pair of chairs.
The oak frames probably date from the 19th century.
At some point in their life, I would say probably the around 1920s they have been reupholstered. the seats and arms in a dusky pink velvet and the backrests with antique tapestries. I would say these tapestries date from at least the 18th century but could quite possibly be earlier.
They are in good vintage condition. Apart from a bit of wear and the upholstery is free from any real damage. Obviously the tapestries are antique so have wear to them as you would expect. The oak frames are solid and sturdy but are worn and have some historic woodworm. All of this adds to their charm.
Each one measures: 90cm high x 67cm wide x 52cm deep. The seat height at the front centre is 48cm.
