Antique Outdoor Armchair
Unusual undulating shape, curved strapwork seat in a sunburst pattern on a wrought iron frame.
Although I can’t find another it is believed French and has been attributed to Francois Carre. There is a later, mid-century American chair by Russel Woodard that seems to bear an uncanny resemblance to this one of which Woodard must have been inspired for his design.
Remnants of original white paint naturally worn over time with a wonderful craquelure, wear in places and lichen etc.
Other than the cosmetic wear which adds to its charm there is no structural damage and the chair is solid and sturdy.
Measuring 74cm high x 63cm wide x 68cm deep. The seat height is roughly 43cm.
