£0.00

Mid-Century Oil Painting by Romeo Borja Enriquez (b.1920 Philippines)

Depicting a scantily clad female sitter wearing a sarong and a beaded necklace with her hair freely flowing in the wind perched on a rock in a forest and next to a fast-moving river.

Painted in a 1950s/1960s pin-up style, the artist has skilfully managed to capture the energy and movement of the sitter with lifelike movement.

Signed to the lower left ‘Romeo Enriquez’ and dated ‘1961’.

Romeo Borja Enriquez was born in Tondo, Manila in 1920. He studied fine arts and the University of the Philippines, he won first prize in countless art competitions over his career and became well known for his figurative work. His work has also been featured in a number of the San Miguel Brewery calendars.

In its original and complimentary wooden frame.

The painting itself is in very good vintage condition, there is some minor wear commensurate with age and some light craquelure to the surface but no serious issues. The frame is also in similarly good vintage order with some wear but no serious problems.

Overall measurements: 86cm x 72cm x 6cm.
