Vintage Original Oil on Canvas Painting Depicting a Male Sitter

A dramatic and accomplished portrait, depicting a man in a blue rugby shirt. Half of his face is cast in shadow which creates plenty of feeling.

Unsigned but painted by a talented hand in oil on canvas later laid to board.

I would date the painting to the early to mid 20th century period circa 1930s-1950s and it is almost certainly British in origin.

Framed and glazed in a simple wooden frame.

The painting is in good vintage order with some wear commensurate with age. At some point, the canvas has been stretched over a board.

Approximate overall measurements 48cm high x 31cm wide x 3cm deep.
