Vintage Sculptural Polychrome Painted Wooden Mirror
Howard Raybould was born in London, in 1946. He attended Hammersmith College of Art, London, (1965-1966) and Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, London, (1966-1969) where he completed a degree in Fine Art and Sculpture. Howard’s sculptural style has been influenced by the diverse background of training he received in areas such as furniture making, carving, gilding and polishing, as well as the French landscape in which he currently lives and works.
His work can be found in a number of major collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, Elton John, Sir Hugh Casson, British Council, British Rail to name a few and he has exhibited globally.
The frame is hand-carved from Quebec pine with exquisite attention to detail and then painted in blues reds and metallic bronze.
Ethereal, slightly surreal architectural details surround the bevelled mirror plate.
Signed and dated to the lower right and a stamped verso.
It is in excellent vintage condition with only very minor wear and tear and nothing serious enough to point out.
Measuring 88cm wide x 64cm high x 4cm deep.
