Antique Ebonised Screen With Hand Painted Seascape and Mother of Pearl Inlay, 19th Century
Depicting a stormy sea at night, the waves are crashing on the rocks and there is a magnificent lighthouse. You can make out the silhouette of a couple of boats in the moonlight
The moon is made from abalone shell as well all of the highlights like the crests of the waves and the parts of the lighthouse.
A highly decorative but still very usable piece.
The screen is generally in good vintage order there are a few small areas of wear and some scratches to the vanish etc. but nothing too serious. Please see photos.
Measuring 76.5cm high. Laid flat it is 75cm wide, stood up as it is in the photo it is roughly 60cm wide x 18cm deep but this can be adjusted.
