Julfar or Julphar pottery originates from Ras-al-Khaimah in what is now the UAE it was typically a loose clay unglazed earthenware.
The exact date of this pot is unknown, but Julfar ware was most popular between the 15th and 17th centuries and was produced up until the 19th century. This pot was reputably excavated from the ground in the 1980s.
It is in very good vintage condition considering it was once buried in the desert, it is full of imperfections from its production as well as its burial but remarkably there are no significant chips or cracks. Mineral deposits are present, largely calcium carbonate from its burial which adds to its charm and aesthetic.
