The 'Instanto' Full Plate Field Camera by E. & T. Underwood, 1880s
The 'Instanto' Full Plate Field Camera by E. & T. Underwood, 1880s
Antique Victorian Plate Camera on Original Tripod
Made from Honduran seasoned mahogany with finger joins.
Brass fittings and black square-cornered leather bellows.
Brass landscape lens probably by Wray.
Unusually it comes with the original matching folding tripod.
A hugely decorative piece with a lot of history.
It is in great vintage condition with some minor cosmetic wear and tear. It seems to be all present and correct but is being sold as a decorative piece as we haven't tested it as a camera.
The camera itself measures 23cm wide x 24cm high and is 33cm deep when extended and 15cm deep when folded. The tripod can be adjusted so the overall height/width can change but when photographed the overall height was 153cm and it was 92cm wide at the widest point.
