Rustic Sculptural Threshing Board, 19th Century
Rustic Sculptural Threshing Board, 19th Century
Antique Agricultural Threshing Sledge
Two naturally bleached pine boards with countless holes containing shards on flint.
In years gone by this would have dragged behind a horse, donkey or ox over a crop to separate the grain from the straw. I have also seen similar items used wall-mounted and farmers manually drawing the crop across the front.
Today it is a very sculptural decorative piece to hang on the wall working equally well in a traditional, rustic interior as a more modern space.
Timeworn over the years from use. It has lots of imperfections which makes it what it is and add to its charm. Quite a few of the flint pieces are missing, these could be replaced easily but it isn’t necessary. There is some old woodworm which has been treated to be safe.
Measuring: 150 high x 60cm wide x roughly 10cm deep.
