Spanish Nude Fresco by Miguel Tusquellas Corbella, 1940s
Vintage Original Pigment on Plaster Painting by Miguel Tusquellas Corbella (1884-1969).
Depicting a group of females relaxing next to a lake, possibly after some good old fashioned skinny dipping.
Painted in calming tones and free-flowing lines using dry pigment mixed with water and applied directly into the wet lime plaster. As the plaster sets the painting becomes an integral part of it. A technique used for centuries for walls and ceilings. It is unclear whether this was originally destined to be part of a wall or a standalone artwork.
Signed and dated 1948.
In the original pine frame from manufacture which has been adapted to hang on the wall.
Due to the intrinsic nature of plaster Frescoes, there is some wear and tear to the piece as can be seen from the photos. It isn’t enough to detract from the image and we believe adds to its overall aesthetic.
Overall measurements: 76cm x 62cm x 6cm.
