Framed Woodcut Engravings
Depicting a Tiger, Zebra, Bear, Porcupine, Dromedary and an Elephant. Each with a title in a different typeface and each with a different fancy border.
Originally taken from a single contact sheet from a catalogue of woodcut engravings available to commission for illustrations for books and advertisements etc.
Probably taken from original late 18th Century/early 19th century woodcuts by Thomas Bewick and adapted and printed by the publisher William Davison of Alnwick. Probably printed in the early to mid-19th Century. Circa 1820s-1840s in date.
Provenance ex Kings Weston House, Bristol.
Recently framed and glazed in simple matching black frames.
The prints are largely in good condition for their age, there is some light discolouration wear but nothing serious.
Each frame measures 44cm x 30cm overall.
