Original Oil on Board Portrait of a Foreman, 1980s
Large Vintage Oil Painting Depicting a Male Sitter
I have called him a foreman because of the wonderful combination of the high vis donkey jacket mixed with the shirt tie and cords. My guess is he could have been a foreman on a building site or working for British Rail or something along those lines.
A wonderfully evocative painting depicting a man sitting in a white plastic chair against a wood veneered wall. He is balding with glasses, the flash of the pink shirt along with the orange shoulders of his coat could quite easily be noughties Comme de Garcon, maybe that is a stretch too far but I love the get-up. Think modern-day Shoreditch meets going to work in the 80s with a 5% slice of serial killer mixed in for good measure.
Unsigned but exquisitely painted with oodles of feeling and detail.
It is in great vintage condition with only minor wear commensurate with age.
Measuring 91cm x 61cm.
