Large French Female Nude - Original Pencil Life Drawing, Antique 19th Century
Antique Drawing Depicting a Female Nude by Léon Edouard Romieu
An extremely well-executed drawing of a seated woman with her arms above her head. The artist has really captured the character of the woman well and sensitively.
Signed to the upper left ‘Romieu’, Léon Edouard Romieu was a French artist active in the 19th and early 20th centuries. A student of Brisset and Cabanel. He made his debut at the Salon of 1880 and painted allegories, mythological subjects and portraits.
Recently framed and glazed in a simple black frame and mounted in a way to celebrate the town edge of the paper rather than hide its characteristics.
The drawing itself is in good order with no serious damage with wear commensurate with age.
Overall measurements: 84cm x 68cm.
