Antique Biological Illustration Drawing

An original pen, ink and watercolour on paper scientific illustration.

Probably dating to the late 19th century or possibly early 20th Century.

Recently framed and glazed in a simple black frame and mounted in a way to celebrate the torn edge of the paper rather than hide its characteristics.

The painting itself is in good order, there is some wear around the edges of the paper and ageing to the colour of the paper which we think adds to its charm. On very close inspection there is a slight perforation in the paper which we can’t make out the design but is possibly in place of a watermark or similar distinguishing feature.

Overall measurements: 51cm x 38cm. Paper measures: 31cm x 20cm.
