French Art Deco Bistro Table by Fischel

French Art Deco Bistro Table by Fischel

Vintage French Art Deco Bistro Table

We have just got this stunner back from Provence in Southern France and it looks amazing in the shop.

Probably dating from the 1920s/1930s period this table really oozes French art deco cafe culture, it really is a stylish piece. Picture sipping a Pastis in a town square somewhere in France in the 20s.

Made by high quality manufacturer Fischel, it is stamped on the base along with 'Modele Depose' which translates as 'registered design'. Fischel, originally based in Austria was the main competitor to Thonet in the late 19th /early 20th century before moving operations to Alsace in France where it made cafe tables, these are now in high demand for their quality and aesthetic.

This example has a red bakelite top surrounded by a chromed strip, the main shaft is also chromed which has become deliciously worn. This all sits on a weighted steel tripod base which still has some of the original red paint poking through to great effect.

Measuring: 72.5cm high X 50cm diameter.

The table is in good vintage order, being a good quality item it is solid and stable as it was built to last. We love items with character and this table is no exception. It has wear and tear all over that we feel add to it's overall charm. Please see photographs.
