Original Antique Oriental Paintings Depicting Birds

Painted in watercolour on rice paper these three paintings really are stunning. Depicting birds in amongst flowers and foliage they really do capture something beautiful. I just love the look on the birds faces with so much character and the details such as the rose thorns, the artist really has managed to capture the energy of the scene very well.

I would say they are at least 18th century and possibly even 17th. They are hugely decorative pieces with beautiful colourings and a wonderful faded quality which we believe adds to their overall aesthetic. As can be seen from the photos there are some small areas of damage but we think this is forgiven when looking at them as a whole.

They are framed in sympathetic faux bamboo style frames which have been overpainted green. Judging by the framing labels verso this was carried out in c.1975 by highly renowned Chelsea framing company J.J. Patrickson & Sons. (Later Bourlet & Patrickson).

Each one measures 54cm X 34cm X 2cm.
