Tiny Antique Framed Daguerreotype Photograph

Tiny Antique Framed Daguerreotype Photograph

19th Century Miniature Framed Photograph of a Gentleman

I absolutely love the way this photograph has aged, it is milky and mysterious, it is hard to capture the way it glistens in the light but have taken a few pics of it in different lights to give you an idea.

Daguerreotype was the first commercially successful photographic process. Each one is a unique image on a silvered copper sheet. The silvering is the reason it glistens so uniquely.

This example depicts a handsome young gentleman and was probably gifted by him to his sweetheart, itis framed in a delicious gilt frame and dates from around 1850-1860.

This would look great as a part of a gallery wall or cabinet of curiosities and would grace any interesting interior.

Measuring: 6.5cm wide X 7.5cm high.

Overall the painting is in good vintage condition, there are some repairs to the canvas and areas of restoration but this has been done sympathetically and when hanging on the wall you don't notice. Please see photos.
