'The Sleeping Bloodhound' - 19th Century Engraving

'The Sleeping Bloodhound' - 19th Century Engraving

Victorian Gilt Framed Dog Engraving

From the original painting by Edwin Henry Landseer R.A. 'The Sleeping Bloodhound'.

Accomplished engraving by his brother Thomas Landseer.

A charming subject matter depicting the sleeping bloodhound with resting on a straw bed next to a medieval style helmet and table.

An extremely attractive object for any bloodhound enthusiast collector or interior design project.

The original painting was exhibited in 1835, the engravings were probably executed shortly after that date.

The engraving has been applied to canvas and is framed in a very attractive gilt wood, chunky frame.

Measuring: 91cm X 68cm X 7cm (total).

The engraving is in great vintage condition, there is some noticeable discolouration to the border of the paper, we believe this adds to the overall charm of the piece. The glass in the frame is free from damage and the gilding is worn in an extremely attractive way, and has imperfections that add to it's overall aesthetic. Please see photos.
