Pair of Stormy Monochrome Seascapes

Pair of Stormy Monochrome Seascapes

Original Antique Drawings

Dating from the late 19th/early 20th Century.

Dramatic, rough seas by moonlight, captured brilliantly by by the artist, signed ‘T.W.B.’

One is entitled ‘Eddystone Lighthouse’ - this is the 4th incarnation of the lighthouse, built in 1879 and altered in the early 20th century. It sits smack bang between Devon and Cornish waters on a rocky outcrop overlooking Plymouth harbour and .

The other is entitled ‘In Stress & Storm’ - depicting waves smashing against a harbour wall, possibly Plymouth.

I believe they are charcoal and white pastel on paper on paper.

In original dark green and gilt frames.

The drawings themselves are in great vintage condition. as they have been protected behind glass. The only thing I would say about them is that a couple of sections have been pushed against the glass so some of the image is on the reverse of the glass. The frames are a little worn in places but this adds to their chair.

Each one measures: 81cm x 61.5cm x 5cm.
