19th Century Astrological Lecture Diagrams


Antique Educational Aids

Dating from 1852 they were originally produced by the Working Men's Educational Union,

We have three examples, available to purchase individually (please make a note of your preferred option at the checkout):

  1. Showing the seasons with solstices and equinoxes.

  2. Showing the size of the sun in comparison to the planets.

  3. Showing important comets ( the Great Comet of 1680, the Great Comet of 1811, Halley’s Comet, the 1741 Comet and Encke’s Comet.)

They are all coloured for optimum viewing under gaslight and produced to be visible from a distance.

Each one roughly measures 120cm x 90cm.

They are in excellent vintage condition with a small amount of wear and tear

There are some slightly later examples held in the V&A and Greenwich Museums and the latter have made prints and tote bags out of them.
